The Painting Department

Paintings are a lot more complex and not just a pretty thing to look at.  It's also not just limited to an easel.   Paintings can be in the form of sculptures as well.  They can make us aware of ourselves and our position in the world.  They can force us to look at the world in a new perspective and shaping the means by which we see the painting.  They can also be a narrative that tells a story from a person's point of view.  This can replace linguistic narrative into something that everyone can understand.  The environment in which the art is placed is important to the message that the artist is trying to make.  Paintings can record moments in history and record experience through the use of the materials in which the painting is created.
